Weber Shandwick’s head of public affairs Alex Deane is set to join FTI Consulting.
Deane joins the global advisory firm as managing director of public affairs in London with a brief to continue the growth of FTI’s public affairs practise in the UK.
A former chief of staff in opposition to David Cameron and founding director of Big Brother Watch, Deane’s departure deprives Weber Shandwick of its most prominent Tory lobbyist.
Deane will be based in FTI’s strategic communications division in the UK, led by John Waples, the former Sunday Times business editor.
Speaking on his appointment, Deane said: “I’m really excited about taking my career, and the FTI Consulting public affairs offer, forward with this move.”
Deane joined Weber Shandwick in October 2011 after spending less than a year as a director in Bell Pottinger’s lobbying division.
