APCO Worldwide has added to its Brussels offering through the addition of former Liberal Democrat MEP Sir Graham Watson to its International Advisory Council.
Sir Graham entered the European Parliament in 1994, becoming leader of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Group. He lost his South West England and Gibraltar seat in May.
Sir Graham’s appointment follows the recent departure of APCO’s Europe managing director Ed Walsh for a global communications role at Philips.
Watson will work closely with APCO’s Brussels team, led by its new managing director, Claire Boussagol.
APCO founder and CEO Margery Kraus said: “Sir Graham’s distinguished career in the European Parliament allows him to bring tremendous political and policy insights to our clients’ opportunities and challenges.”
Speaking on his appointment, Watson said: “I am delighted to join such a distinguished group of former public servants, business leaders, nonprofit leaders and academics on APCO’s International Advisory Council. I have been impressed by APCO’s extensive record of positive and impactful engagement in public and global affairs and I look forward to working with APCO’s clients to help them engage effectively with the European institutions.”
