Bell Pottinger has hired Beth Armstrong, a former special adviser to Michael Gove, as a senior consultant in its political practice.
Armstrong was a special adviser to Michael Gove in his role as secretary of state for education from December 2013 until the senior Tory was appointed chief whip.
Prior to her work as a special adviser, Armstrong was head of the political section of the Conservative Research Department.
Harvey Smith has also been hired as an associate partner, working with Bell Pottinger’s financial and corporate teams.
Smith ran and owned the digital marketing agency Initio Consulting before selling to Haggie Partners, becoming their head of digital.
James Henderson, Bell Pottinger Group CEO, said: “Harvey and Beth will help us build further on our approach of delivering truly integrated and cutting-edge communications, providing clients with an expert guide through the complex markets in which they operate.”
