Communications consultancy Open Road has won a retained brief with National Grid Property, the commercial property arm of the power network.
Open Road and parent firm Blue Rubicon have been appointed to advise the business across stakeholder engagement, public affairs, reputation management and media relations.
Open Road was bought by Blue Rubicon in February in a cash and equity deal that created a business of around 200 people.
The brief comes ahead of National Grid Property seeking to highlight the role its sites, predominantly former gasworks, could play in contributing to UK housing targets.
National Grid Property’s former public affairs agency Bell Pottinger reportedly ceased work on the account earlier this year. Open Road is also the retained public affairs agency to the National Grid Group, having won the business from Bell Pottinger in 2013.
National Grid Property stakeholder manager Lynsey Kitching said: “Open Road and Blue Rubicon demonstrated a genuine understanding of our business objectives and policy context and we are very excited to have them on board as we prepare to take a more proactive approach to communications.”
She added: “Their integrated offer was particularly important to us as we seek to implement a new approach across public affairs, media relations and stakeholder engagement.”
