Howell James is to leave his role as head of corporate communications at Christie’s to become chief executive of Quiller Consultants in the Autumn.
James, a former political secretary to John Major, was a founding partner of corporate PR firm Brown Lloyd James and was vice chairman, corporate affairs at Barclays ahead of moving to Christies in 2012.
Huntsworth chief executive and Conservative peer Lord Chadlington said: “I am delighted to welcome Howell as the chief executive of Quiller which specialises in helping clients with complex and demanding communications problems. Howell’s wide experience will not only bring his considerable experience to the company but he will recruit like minded executives to expand the Quiller client list.”
Quiller Consultants has suffered the loss of several experienced staff in recent weeks, with former David Cameron special advisor Sean Worth leaving his leadership position with the consultancy after a short tenure and senior consultant and financial specialist Peter Wilson-Smith set to depart.
